I am very excited about this blog post because it is a beautiful story that a fellow writer friend was led to write by her loving heavenly father. Thank you Ellen Duncan for being so willing to become a contributor to God’s purpose for his children.
Recently I was speaking to a dear friend on the phone. I had been sick and she called to see how I was feeling. I begin telling her how much I appreciated the call and then the course of the conversation turned into how much I treasured her friendship.
I told her she was like the chain on a charm bracelet. She was that strong chain that holds on it some of my favorite charms. Through her, I have met some very special “charming” ladies. We have been blessed to get to know each other because she has included each of us in her chain of friendships. As each charm on a charm bracelet, each of our friends have their very own unique personality as well as looks. We vary in our interest, our up bringing, our ages and our adult lifestyles. Yet she is the key to us coming together in life.
This is true for each of us! Think about your life for a moment. Who are you closest to? How did you meet that person? Have you ever be so excited to have someone new come into your life that you could not wait to share that person with some of your older friendships? Well, if so then you to have started your own charm bracelet.
Let me go a step further. As a Christian I believe Christ Jesus is my chain. I am attached to Him because He said once I have received Him as my friend He will not let go of me. He anchors me and He accumulates on His chain some very rare and beautiful charming human beings, each equally as valuable and loved by Him.
How very precious we are! We are treasured by someone somewhere. That is a warming thought, especially when a person is sick and it is a rainy dreary day. Some thoughts are worth camping on. I think I will hold onto the thought the rest of this day!
I hope as you read this story you have treasured friends you can relate this story too. And if you do in this world of counting things such as calories you are counting your blessings such a the dear friends that have crossed your path in life. NOW, we are talking about some seriously valuable treasure!!!
