Rest & Restoration

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Rest. Can I be brutally honest with everyone who is reading this? This little word has been somewhat frightening to me this week. For those who are coming to this blog for the first time, let me tell you a little bit about myself.  This child of God is a freelance writer, who would rather spend every day sharing inspiring stories than doing anything else. While I have enjoyed moving away from a Public Relations career to one of story writing over the last year or so, there are times when the to do list begins to clear out and the pay is a little less than I would hope. This is, honestly, when the fear starts to settle into my heart. Today, just happens to be one of those days.

The best way I have found to resolve this fear is to turn to The Father and ask for HIS wonderful guidance. After doing so today, he reminded me that it is time to “rest in his very capable hands”. This has given me a great sense of peace, as I know that the one who loves me most will provide a path.

As he also says, not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God (2 Corinthians 3:5). Besides, he is the one who led me to this writing career, why wouldn’t he restore it to its former glory? There is none other that restores more than God and the one who led us to the Father – Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

So, if you are in the same boat as me and are wondering whether God has left you high and dry. Let’s remember…

For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before, says the Lord. (Jeremiah 33:11)
